Older boys enjoying table tennis at KJCH

Table tennis is a very popular sport in Ghana and at King Jesus Charity Home.  Until recently the children at KJCH had no proper table tennis equipment and played on 4 low tables pushed together, using plywood for the net and bats.  Thanks to a very generous donation from the Akinbolu family in memory of their relatives Judy and Rex who tragically died in a car accident in April, it has been possible to buy a table tennis table, net, bats and balls.  In his younger days Rex played table tennis for the Ghana national team so it is particularly fitting that the children at the orphanage can enjoy this sport.  Our sincere thanks and condolences go to the Akinbolu family.

In July 2014, Gosforth Park First School donated a further full-sized table tennis table and 4 junior tables, as well as bats and balls, and raised funds to pay for them to be transported to KJCH, along with books that were no longer needed at the school.
