At our dinner on 14 October, we launched an appeal for £10,000 to pay for a new roof for the main building at King Jesus Charity Home.

Currently the building has a flat concrete roof, as it was originally planned to add a further storey.  Because of the cost involved, that plan has been postponed, probably for several years.  The current roof is leaking badly causing damage to the ceilings below and when it rains – and it rains heavily in Kumasi -the children have to put out buckets and bowls to catch the drips.

The estimate for constructing a new roof using aluminium sheets supported by a timber frame, plus repairing the damaged ceilings and installing lights and fans, is estimated at £10,000.

Can you help?  Perhaps you could organise a fundraising event, eg coffee morning, table top or car boot sale, tombola etc., or simply make a donation.  You can donate easily via our BT MyDonate site where we have created a fundraising event page specifically for the Raise the Roof appeal.  Please go to: http://www.mydonate.bt.com/events/raisetheroofatkjch427556
