Our charity currently supports the education of 103 children and young adults from King Jesus Charity Home, from kindergarten to university. Their progress is being severely handicapped by a lack of access to educational equipment such as laptops, music keyboards and training shoes.  We aim to buy 22 laptops for the children to share at a cost of £300 each (total £6,600), 5 second-hand music keyboards at £50 each (total  £250) to assist with their music practice, and 45 pairs of trainers at £20 each (£900).  In addition the children need supervision and help whilst doing their homework as they are currently well behind their peers at school.  We aim to employ a suitably qualified person for this purpose and are seeking funds for 3 years’ salary at a cost of £1,200 p.a. (total £3,600) to enable us to build up a reserve for continuing salary in the future.

Once the project is completed, the children will have access to digitally set work via laptops. The study supervisor will help the children gain the skills they need to succeed and make learning exciting.  This will encourage the students to turn hard work into success as they will be able to fully engage with their studies.  They will learn new computer-based skills which will aid them in their future careers and allow them the best possible education available.  Trainers for physical education will get the kids engaged in sport, encouraging them to socialize together and to have fun.  The music keyboards will give the children a creative outlet and the opportunity to express themselves, improve their creative talents and enable them to keep up with their peers in music lessons at school.

We are working hard to raise the £11,350 to complete the project and fundraising events will be advertised on this website as well as our Facebook page.  If you are able to make a donation towards this project, we will be very grateful for any help you can give.  You can do so by clicking on the PayPal Giving Fund link on our opening page, or send a cheque payable to Ghanaian Children’s Trust to 6 Kirkstone Gardens, Newcastle upon Tyne NE7 7AN.  Please indicate that your donation is for the Education Project.  Thank you.
